イェンス・レーマンが、ドイツ代表の正ゴールキーパーに決まってから3日目、カーンは記者会見を開いて、初めて「公式に」控えの座を受け入れることを明らかにしました。代表監督のユルゲン・クリンスマンは、カーンの凄いフェアな姿勢を評価しました。
1995年から、カーンは、代表チームの屋台骨として国際試合84マッチに出場。リーダーとしてチームを引っ張ってきました。これで、「カーン引退か？」という憶測は終わりましたが、「カーンがいつ復帰するのか？」という新しい憶測がすぐに出始めたのです。厳しいものでは、ドイツ代表がワールドカップの予選リーグを突破できず、ユルゲン・クリンスマンとイェンス・レーマンがクビになって、カーンがパワーアップして戻ってくるというのもあります。
でもそんなことよりも、ドイツ代表チームが前よりよくなることを願おうではありませんか。ホーム開催で予選リーグを勝ち抜いてほしい。そうじゃないと国家的な悲劇ですからね。
Kahn is accepting number 2 position
On his first press conference 3 days after JENS LEHMANN nomination for number 1 goal keeper in the German national team OLIVER KAHN has “officially” accepted to be only number 2.
JUERGEN KLINSMANN, German coach strongly underlined the extreme fairness of OLIVER KAHN. Since 1995 KAHN was in 84 national games the backbone of the team − 48 times he was also team leader. All speculations about KAHN retirement are now over. Immediately new speculations have started asking for a strong come-back of KAHN. One of them is assumingly the German team does not get into the second round of the World Cup JUERGEN KLINSMANN and JENS LEHMANN will be fired and OLIVER KAHN is returning stronger than ever.
But that’s all out in the air and lets hope the German team will perform better than they have in the past year − hopefully they will survive the first round in there own home country. Everything else would be a national disaster.
